Festspelen i Bayreuth

I måndags började Wagnerfestspelen i Bayreuth. För första gången på decennier sände Sveriges Radio P2 live från festspelshuset. Öppningsföreställningen med den nya Tristan och Isolde. Fin musikaliskt, särskilt Nina Stemme och Robert Dean Smith. Men av bilderna att döma är uppsättningen sceniskt urtrist.

Den svenska presentatören i P2 var som vanligt mycket pratglad och lyckades helt ta bort stämningen av en direktsändning från Bayreuth genom att prata ända tills musiken skulle börja. Hon lät inte fanfarerna från festspelhusets balkong - som inleder varje akt - komma fram i P2.

Det är stor skillnad hur dessa live-inspelningar behandlas av t ex Norges NRK Alltid Klassisk - som sänder live hela veckan, de kopplar in Bayreuth inför fanfaren, sen låter de den bayerska radion sköta det hela. De återkommer inte förrän den bayerska hallåan avonnonserat akten.

Terrorattackerna i London

Lite upplyftande var det att läsa om Imaans entydiga fördömande av terrorattackerna i London. "Imaan is a social support group for Muslim lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, those questioning their sexuality or gender identity and their friends and supporters."

Met Operas

Opera avond
The Metropolitan Opera. Mijlpalen en curiosa uit het archief van de roemruchte Newyorkse ´Met´.

The Dutch Concertzender will devote July and August Sunday evenings (19 - 23 CET/17-21 GMT) to 'milestones and curiosities' from the archives of the Met. They began yesterday (Sunday July 3) with La Bohème from 1977 with Renata Scotto, Luciano Pavarotti and Ingvar Wixell, Levine conducting. This was announced on the program schedule, and it took about two hours, so after the performance the announcer proclaimd that there was time for another complete Puccini opera. Then we got a complete Tosca from 1960 with Milanov, Mitropoulos conducting. Not bad, I must say.
